When is comes to staying alive there are a lot more do’s then don’ts. 

Prevention:  The key is to live a generally healthy lifestyle. 

DO: 

  • Exercise regularly, monitor your blood pressure (12 0/80 or less) 
  • Maintain a balanced diet  low in sodium, saturated fats, high in fiber, natural fats, eat legumes, fruits, and vegetables, eat a plant-based diet, and drink in moderation 
  • Use sunscreen, see a doctor regularly to catch developing cancers early on 
  • Avoid air pollution and chemical fumes 
  • Know the warning signs of suicide: hopelessness, self-hatred, social withdrawal, preoccupation with death, and take it seriously. Talk about suicide with loved one and remove potential means of suicide. get help, call a suicide prevention line, seek a mental health professional. 
  • Maintaining strong social connections into old age, avoiding head trauma 
  • Keep up with vaccinations, avoid infection by coughing into your elbow, cleaning frequently touched surfaces, and washing hands regularly. 

Don't: 

  • Smoke 
  • Avoid processed meats 
  • Sugary drinks 
  • Avoid the midday sun
